mining-ds
The mining‑ds ecosystem is growing collection GitHub repositories for Mining data science, geometallurgy, resource modelling, analytics and decision support for mining. Here you will find the source notebooks and useful code. The rendered outputs are housed in the master hub. Additional source code for CLI, GUI and experiments are found in the companion mining-ds-toolkit repository.
Mining DS is the ecosystem layer connecting repositories, documentation, standards, governance, and knowledge resources. Published content is available through Nimmo Analytics.
Explore the ecosystem:
The mining-ds-vault is a curated, intentional space for modern mining data science. It is built on a foundation of minimalism, clarity, reproducibility, and longevity. Every workflow, pattern, and example is crafted to be readable, portable, and architecturally sound.
This is not a collection of scripts. It is a system of thought. A way of working that emphasises structure, reasoning, and design.
Evolving knowledge-base
Mining DS began as a collection of repositories and knowledge resources. The ecosystem continues to evolve, while published content is now maintained through Nimmo Analytics.

The Framework
This repository follows a five‑layer maturity model that mirrors the NA‑4DS Framework (Define, Design, Develop, Deliver) and reflects how technical capability evolves from early research to fully independent products. Each folder represents a distinct stage in this lifecycle.
Research → Explore → Discover → Products
The research layer contains foundational thinking: domain knowledge, conceptual frameworks, feasibility analysis, and problem definition. This is where requirements, constraints, and success criteria are established.
The explore layer is the experimental sandbox. It includes prototypes, tests, scratch notebooks, API trials, and modelling sketches. This is where specifications emerge through experimentation and reduction of uncertainty.
The discover layer contains polished, reusable artefacts: exemplar workflows, reusable fragments, deployment demonstrations, and narrative‑grade documents. This is where working solutions are built and validated.
The tools layer contains operational, user‑facing utilities. These include CLI and GUI tools that turn research, exploration, and discovery into practical capability. Tools are intended as a starting point for real-world use.
But wait. What about the 5th layer?
The 5th layer represents tools that have matured beyond the repository and become standalone packages or applications. Examples include external libraries, services, or modules.
